21st Annual TRWD Trinity River Trash Bash A Success

by User Not Found | Sep 17, 2012

On Saturday, September 15th 3,000 volunteers showed up bright and early to give back to the community by cleaning up the Fort Worth section of the Trinity River at the Tarrant Regional Water District (TRWD) Trash Bash. This was by far the largest amount of people to participate in the 21 year history of the Trash Bash, beating last year’s participation by over 1,000 people! In two short hours our hard working volunteers cleaned up over 9.5 TONS of trash!

After the pick-up, volunteers headed over to Panther Island Pavilion in Trinity Uptown for an after party full of free food, door prizes and entertainment by Radio Disney.

Trash Bash would not have been possible without help from generous sponsors Dr. Pepper Snapple Group, Parsons Brinckerhoff, Streams and Valleys, HDR, Star-Telegram, Hawks Creek Golf Club, Cabela’s, Tarrant County Credit Union, AkzoNobel, Radio Disney, Kona Ice, T.R.E.E.S. and Kimley-Horn and Associates, Inc.

Volunteers interested in keeping the Trinity River clean year-round should join the Adopt-A-River program hosted by TRWD. Individuals, neighborhoods and organizations can volunteer to adopt a section of the Trinity, thus becoming responsible for periodic river cleanups. Contact Rachel Navejar for more information.
