The Trinity River Vision Authority is bringing back Fort Worth’s favorite holiday tradition

FORT WORTH, TX – Sharpen your skates, Fort Worth’s only outdoor ice skating rink is coming back! Panther Island Ice will open for the holiday season on November 20 and operate through January 18.

“We are really excited to bring this holiday activity back to Panther Island,” said Trinity River Vision Authority Executive Director, J.D. Granger. “Because we’re returning for a third year we are starting to see families building their traditions around the ice rink and that has been really neat to see,” he said.

Panther Island Ice, which features real ice, will be open seven days a week including holidays such as Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day. Seasonal food and beverages will be available for purchase in addition to the full menu at the Coyote Canteen.

Panther Island Ice will once again be located at Coyote Drive-In but a movie ticket will not be required to skate. Admission will be $11 which includes skate rentals but discounts will be available. In the spirit of holiday giving, Panther Island Ice is partnering with the Tarrant Area Food Bank and every Tuesday, any patron who brings two canned goods to the ice rink will receive $2 off their admission. A military discount will also be available thanks to a generous contribution from Lockheed Martin. Group reservations and discounts for parties of 15 or more people will also be available. Visit the website for all available discounts. Gift certificates are also available.

December 19th will feature a fireworks show set to Christmas music to celebrate the opening weekend of the new Star Wars movie.

For all the Dallas Stars fans, Panther Island Ice is partnering with the team and the ice rink will feature appearances from the Stars’ mascot, Victor E. Green and the Ice Girls. Bass Hall will also host a Motown themed day at the rink in honor of their upcoming show “Motown: The Musical”, presented by Performing Arts Fort Worth. In addition, the rink will feature figure skating performances throughout the season.

New this year is an expanded partnership with FWISD which will give thousands of third, fourth and fifth graders the opportunity to experience the ice rink. This program is brought to you by Bank of Texas and the Fort Worth Chamber of Commerce.

Panther Island Ice is made possible by generous contributions from Tarrant County College, The Dallas Stars, Lockheed Martin, Deep Ellum Brewing Company, Blue Zones Project – Fort Worth, Fort Worth Star-Telegram, Guide Live, 92.1 Hank FM, 95.9 The Ranch and NBC 5.
