Awards

The comprehensive planning effort put together by the project partners has been gaining the attention in the areas of public planning, design and contracting. Below are some of the awards received by the project team.

 

2011 US Army Corps of Engineers—Sustainability Good Neighbor Award

US Army Corps of Engineers awarded the Trinity River Vision Central City Project Delivery Team the Good Neighbor Award to recognize and reward their excellence in the development, management and transferability of activities, and or programs that improve environmental quality, enhance the mission and help USACE reach its sustainability goals. J.D. Granger (TRVA) and Saji Alummuttil (USACE) accepted the award on behalf of the two organizations.

2011 North Central Texas Council of Governments Center of Developmental Excellence -- CLIDE Award

The Trinity River Vision Neighborhood and Recreational Enhancement Plan was awarded a CLIDE for development excellence in the region. The award is sponsored by the North Central Texas Council of Governments and aims to encourage innovative development projects and practices that will accommodate the region's expected growth and ensure the area remains sustainable for generations to come. Project registration and submittal was made by Rachel Navejar (TRWD).

2009 Fort Worth Chapter of American Institute of Architects—Community Award

The Fort Worth Chapter of American Institute of Architects awarded the Trinity River Vision Authority the Community Award for contributing to the promotion, understanding, appreciation and advancement of architecture. J.D. Granger, TRVA Executive Director, accepted the award on behalf of the TRVA planning team.

2009 Fort Worth Metropolitan Black Chamber of Commerce- M/WBE Excellence Award

The Fort Worth Metropolitan Black Chamber of Commerce awarded the Trinity River Vision Authority the 2009 M/WBE Advocate of the Year award for their proactive outreach program and fair contracting policies. The fair contracting program is administered by Shanna Cate (TRVA Planning and Development Manager) and TRVA Executive Director, J.D. Granger accepted the award.

2007 Fort Worth Hispanic Chamber of Commerce- Chairman's Award

Accepted by the Tarrant Regional Water District (TRWD) Board of Directors this top honor recognizes the TRWD and the Trinity River Vision Authority for their educational outreach to contractors as well as the creation of a proactive Fair Contracting Opportunities Policy. The new policy offers exceptional diverse business participation goals and allows the opportunity for reciprocal agreement between certifications. The fair contracting program is administered by Shanna Cate (TRVA Planning and Development Manager).

2007 North Central Texas Council of Governments Center of Development Excellence—Public Policy and Planning Award

Trinity River Vision Authority won the 2007 CLIDE Award in the Public Policy and Planning Category for the Trinity Uptown Plan, Fort Worth, Texas. The award is sponsored by the North Central Texas Council of Governments and recognizes projects which help to ensure continued economic success and high quality of life for the region's future.

2007 Texas Chapter of the American Planning Association—Current Planning Award

In recognition of the collaboration of the City of Fort Worth, Trinity River Vision Authority and GideonToal, Inc. with project partners and a 35 member Citizen Advisory Committee for the formulation of Development Standards and Guidelines designed to promote the development of a vibrant, urban, live, work, play waterfront district as envisioned in the Trinity Uptown Plan. The effort was chaired by J.D. Granger and administered by Randy Hutcheson from the City of Fort Worth Planning and Development department.

2006 Midwest Section of the Texas Chapter of the American Planning Association-- Current Projects Award

The City of Fort Worth won this award for the Trinity Uptown Development Standards and Guidelines. The effort was chaired by J.D. Granger (TRVA) and administered by Randy Hutcheson (City of Fort Worth Planning and Development), was awarded the Current Projects award from the Midwest Section of the Texas Chapter of the American Planning Association. The Midwest Section recognizes the best planning projects from a 25 country region located in Northwest-Central Texas and nominees are evaluated based on innovation, transferability, quality, implementation and comprehensiveness.

2005 Texas Society of Architects – Citation of Honor

In recognition of the Trinity River Vision project partners: Tarrant Regional Water District, City of Fort Worth, Tarrant County, Streams and Valleys, Inc. and the US Army Corps of Engineers for the design of flood control infrastructure improvements that foster the development of a publicly accessible urban waterfront mixed-use environment.

2005 Boston Society of Landscape Architects—Merit Award Landscape Analysis and Planning

2005 The Waterfront Center – Excellence on the Waterfront Top Honor Project

The Trinity River Uptown Plan of Fort Worth, Texas, won the top honor for planning at The Waterfront Center's 19th annual Excellence on the Waterfront Awards Program on November 11, 2005. The Waterfront Center's Annual Awards Program is a juried competition to recognize top-quality international urban waterfront projects and comprehensive waterfront plans. Special acknowledgements to Bing Thom (Bing Thom Architects, Inc.), James Toal (GideonToal, Inc.) and their staff for all of their contributions to the project.

2003 North Central Texas Council of Governments Center of Development Excellence—Celebrating Leadership in Development Excellence Award

The Tarrant Regional Water District (TRWD) won the 2003 CLIDE Award in the Public Policy and Planning Category for the Trinity River Vision Master Plan. The award is sponsored by The North Central Texas Council of Governments and recognizes projects which help to ensure continued economic success and high quality of life for the region's future. The award was managed by Wayne Owen (TRWD).
