Fourth of July celebrations

Fourth of July celebrations, many featuring fireworks shows, get underway Wednesday at cities across the Metroplex.

Southlake Stars & Stripes 2013 Town Square, Southlake. 6-10 p.m.; fireworks at 9:30 p.m. Pictures with Uncle Sam, jugglers, magicians, candy art, balloon art, nature center crafts, toddler zone, inflatable slide and obstacle, gaming truck, children’s

Light Up Arlington! Levitt Pavilion, Arlington. Opens 6 p.m. Free. Music from Velvet Love Box (7:30 p.m.) and Atlanta Rhythm Section (8:45 p.m.). Food and fireworks.

Roanoke’s Independence Day Celebration 201 Park Drive. 6-11 p.m. Live music with Le Freak, family activities, bounce houses, games, $3 barbecue meals and fireworks.

17th annual Lone Star Park Stars & Stripes Celebration Days 1000 Lone Star Parkway, Grand Prairie. 972-263-7223. 3 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday.  Betting, prizes, music and fireworks. Family Fun Park features pony rides, petting zoo, bounce houses and games.

Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra’s Old-Fashioned Family Fireworks Picnic Fort Worth Botanic Garden, 3220 Botanic Garden Blvd. 8:15 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday. Marches and military salutes; fireworks after. $13-$50.

46th annual Arlington 4th of July Parade Downtown Arlington. Begins at 9 a.m. Theme: “Emblems of the Land I Love.” More than 150 entries. Awards ceremony 1 p.m. at Heritage Park, 201 W. Front

Bedford 4thFEST & Sweet 60 Celebration Bedford Boys Ranch, 2801 Forest Ridge Drive. Noon-11 p.m. Fireworks at 10 p.m. Music from Big Mouth. Birthday-themed classic car show, inflatable zone, food for purchase, and free admission and activities. Swim and water fun at Bedford Splash Aquatic Center, noon-7 p.m. ($6.50, $5.50 under age 18, free age 2 and under). Parking and shuttle service $5 (free age 3 and under) at Pennington Field, 1501 Central Drive. Limited on-site parking $20, $15 at Bedford Public Library. Schedule online.

Denton’s 40th annual Kiwanis Fireworks Apogee Stadium at University of North Texas. 6 p.m. Free (donations accepted). Music begins 6:30 p.m. with the Dirty Pesos and George Dunham and the Birddogs. Fireworks after. Parking $5, free at Fouts Field.

Family 4th Fireworks in Northeast Tarrant Presented by North Richland Hills, Haltom City, Richland Hills, Watauga and the Northeast Tarrant Chamber of Commerce. Carnival rides start at 4 p.m.; activities, food trucks, community entertainment and more at 5 p.m.; fireworks about 9:25 p.m. Free parking and viewing from parking lots of The Hills/former ATI Career Training Center, 6351 Boulevard 26, North Richland Hills, and Wiley G. Thomas Coliseum, 6108 Broadway Ave., Haltom City. Bring lawn chairs and blankets. No pets or outdoor cooking/grills.

Flower Mound Independence Fest 2013 Bakers Field Park, 1201 Duncan Lane. 5 p.m. Live music from Rick Springfield, the Walton Stout Band and Breaking Southwest. Gates 5 p.m.; fireworks 9:45 p.m. Children’s parade 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Vintage car show, plus free Kids’ Zone with bounce houses, face painting and more. Free admission and parking.

Fort Worth’s Fourth Panther Island Pavilion, 1098 W. Peach St. 2 p.m. Free music (6:30-9:30 p.m.) and family activities along Trinity River. Professional personal watercraft shows at 4, 5:30 and 7 p.m. Other activities include tubing, kayaking, bounce house, mini golf and obstacle course. Fireworks at 9:30 p.m. Bring blankets or chairs.

Grapevine’s 31st annual Fireworks Extravaganza & Summer Blast Over Lake Grapevine. 9:30 p.m. Food and drinks allowed; no alcohol or glass. View at any park at the lake. $10.

The Keller Pointe’s Fourth of July Spectacular 405 Rufe Snow Drive, Keller. 817-743-4386. 2-4 p.m. Games and pool fun outdoors. No fireworks. Free for members; nonmembers pay daily rate (Keller resident $8, $7 youth; nonresident $10, $9 youth).

Six Flags’ July 4th Fest Six Flags Over Texas, Interstate 30 and Texas 360, Arlington. 817-530-6000. 10:30 a.m.-10 p.m. Thursday-July 7. Live music & entertainment, games, prizes, and activities. Bring a can of Coke on Thursday for exclusive ride time 9:30-10:30 a.m. in Gotham City and Good Times Square with park admission or season pass.
