Trinity River Vision Project Prepares for Trinity Uptown Bridge Construction with Award of Demolition Contract

FORT WORTH, Texas – Where there are now bleak expanses of concrete slab in Fort Worth’s near northside area, there will soon be bridges escorting people into the 800-acre urban waterfront village known as Trinity Uptown.

A contract in the amount of $411,296 was awarded by the Trinity River Vision Authority Board of Directors Wednesday to Fort Worth-based Basecom, Inc., for the removal of concrete foundations left over from previous structural demolition along White Settlement Rd. and Henderson St.

The award further propels the local effort to prepare land needed for the construction of a 1.5-mile bypass channel and three bridges required for the community-inspired flood protection and urban revitalization project. Bridge construction is currently scheduled to begin in 2011.

Basecom, Inc. is serving as a prime contractor and has subcontracted portions of the contract to the following North Texas companies: Green Scaping, Inc., Bartel Transportation and Silver Creek Materials, Inc.

Keeping it Local –

Currently, over 90 firms in the region have received contracts to work on the Trinity River Vision project. In an effort to keep these dollars coming to our local economy, the Trinity River Vision Authority is conducting a proactive outreach program – including educational workshops and an online vendor database – to prepare contractors for future bid opportunities.
